Qena's National Day

  Qena celebrates its national day on March every year . it is the day when Qenai people -especially those of Nag Al Barood , Qeft defeated the French soldiers in 1799 . The Franch navy attacked Nag Al Barood with 12 military ship with admiral Mourandy in charge of the leading ship italy . Qenai people showed great courage in defending their city .As result of their courage , the 12 military ships and over 500 French solders and officers were drowned in the Nile river . This was the greatest defeat to the French army .

 Qena witnessed 8 battles against the French raid starting from  January 22 to April 2 1799:
