Qena's
situation
The
governorate of Qena lies within the upper Egypt section to
the north , there is Sohag, and to the south there is Aswan
, where as the Red sea governrate lies to its west Qena lies
about 608 kilometers to the south of Cairo

the tallest governorate on the Nile side its length is about
240 km

survey is about 10798 square km whereas the populated area
is about 1740.72 square km Qena population : by end of 2001
, it reaches the number 2717788.

the Nile
river penetrates through Qena's governorate and therefore it
contributes a great deal in its agricultural activity . to
the east , the western desert. thanks to the nature of the
granite rocks in Qena , the Nile river changes its way ,
creating the well - known bend of Qena .

very hot summer and a cold winter . but the climate is alwys
dry and it rarely river. sometimes , the governorate is
exposed to torrential rain coming from the red sea hights. |
